The hair mask allows you to take care of each hair according to its needs. Dry, damaged, oily or white hair … there are many natural recipes to pamper them. Instructions for use and advice to make the most suitable mask.

From ancient Egypt, in order to preserve the vitality of their hair, women coated them with olive oil flavoured with plants and balm made from crocodile fat, recipes prized by Nefertiti. Cleopatra swore by masks with sesame, flaxseed and essential oil of myrrh to strengthen her scalp and mane. The application of a hair mask is a ritual that has crossed the ages and for good reason, it is the promise of silky hair, a symbol of femininity and sensuality.

Hydration and Anti-breakage

Constantly exposed to pollution, wind and UV, hair weakens, dries up, becomes brittle. The list of misdeeds does not end there; Too aggressive washing, heat from hairdryers and straighteners also damage them.
By its rich texture, the hair masks sheaths and protects the lengths. During its break time, it nourishes and restores the hair fibre. The ingredients to favor:
  • Coconut oil,
  • Avocado oil,
  • Argan Oil,
  • Shea oil,
  • etc

Mission boost and discipline

Applied strand by strand in massage, it curls the surface of the hair, flaps and seals their scales, the lengths thus better capture the light, gain in shine and are, as a bonus, easier to comb.
To this action, is added that of its ingredients if they are well-chosen, such as chamomile which contains pigments, illuminates illico and apple cider vinegar which neutralizes limescale dislodges dust and impurities.

Hair mask: good manufacturing reflexes

” We choose organic ingredients to avoid pesticides and wild plants to benefit from pure quality; the right benchmark to get them: herbalists.
We manufacture our ‘minute’ treatments to guarantee the maximum effectiveness of a fresh formula, without the risk of bacteria.

If they are oil-based recipes, they can be kept as long as you add vitamin E so that they do not go rancid and they are stored in amber glass jars “, indicates Pauline Boue- Grabot, a chemist at Soin de Soi.

Three homemade hair mask recipes

Intense nutrition treatment with peppermint

Ingredients :
  • 2 tbsp. to s. coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp. to s. jojoba oil
  • 5 drops of peppermint essential oil (ET)
Manual :
  • In a bowl, mix the 3 ingredients to obtain a very homogeneous preparation which is transferred to a pot.
  • The treatment is applied to the lengths of the hair, strand by strand.
  • Cover your head with a shower cap and blow hot air from a hairdryer on it, then leave it on for 15 minutes.
  • We take off the shower cap and wash the hair.
The recipe is taken from the book “Healthy & Beautiful”, Zoé Armbruster, ed. First, € 18.
Our expert’s advice:
This treatment is recommended for dry, brittle, dull hair. Coconut oil, rich in lauric acid, is very nourishing and fortifying, it coats the hair with an anti-breakage action. Jojoba oil restores and softens the hair fibre, making it easier to comb. Peppermint essential oil is antibacterial, it can be exchanged for ylang-ylang essential oil which brings shine and vitality.
Added 3 drops of vitamin E for conservation care until 6 months. In the recipe, the shower cap + hot air step lacks practicality, we opt for an application in the evening on hair moistened with a mist of rose water, interesting for its moisturizing and toning properties. The right frequency: once a week.

Special white hair mask

Ingredients :
  • 1 C. to s. German chamomile hydrosol
  • 1 C. to s. vodka
  • 1 C. to c. glycerin
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 C. to s. argan-oil
  • 2 tbsp. to s. liquid honey
  • 2 drops of EO of German chamomile
Manual :
  • In a bowl, pour argan oil, liquid honey and glycerin, using a mini-whisk, mix everything.
  • Add the egg yolk, mix again.
  • Add the vodka, hydrosol and essential oil of chamomile, whisk vigorously to obtain a very liquid paste.
  • With a brush, apply to the lengths, leave for 15 min and rinse.

Our expert’s advice:

Chamomile is great for preventing yellowing and reviving white or blonde hair. Vodka has a brilliant action, it is better to bet on apple cider vinegar to close the scales. Egg yolk is rich in proteins, minerals, vitamins, a good combo to repair the hair fiber.

Argan oil has the advantage of being very nourishing. Honey regenerates and illuminates the hair. Apply once a week.

Purifying and balancing hair mask

Ingredients :
  • 2 tbsp. to s. green clay powder
  • 2 tbsp. to s. neutral henna powder
  • 1 C. to s. orange peel powder
  • 1/2 cup sage tea
  • 3 drops of grapefruit EO
Manual :
  • We start by preparing the sage infusion.
  • In a bowl, place the powders of green clay, neutral henna and orange peel. We pour the infusion of warm sage while mixing to obtain a creamy consistency.
  • Add grapefruit essential oil and mix again.
  • Apply to damp hair, from roots to ends. We go up the lengths on the skull and we wrap the head with a towel. Leave on for 20 min and rinse with lukewarm water.
Recipe is taken from the book “Create your organic cosmetics”, Sylvie Hampikian, ed. Living Earth, € 22.
Our expert’s advice:
This recipe is perfect for oily hair and in the case of dandruff. Green clay is a champion for purifying and absorbing excess sebum. Neutral henna cleanses, limits the appearance of dandruff, brings strength and shine. Grapefruit essential oil regulates sebum. Orange peel powder softens the fibre. Sage is balancing and purifying.
This treatment cannot be kept. Once prepared, it is applied. To be done once a week.
